Signs of Spring at Raynham: Snowdrops, Newborn Calves, and the First Steps Toward Harvest
Spring is on the horizon at Raynham, and the first signs of the season are already starting to bloom across the grounds. Snowdrops are in full display, creating beautiful swathes of white throughout the estate. These delicate flowers are often the first indicator that winter is coming to an end, marking a hopeful transition into the warmer months ahead.
Over on the farm, we’ve begun to welcome new life with the arrival of our first calves of the season, including several sets of twins! It’s always a joy to see these newborns thriving and exploring their surroundings as spring unfolds.
In addition to new beginnings in the animal world, we have also started drilling malting barley on our kinder soils. This crop will eventually be harvested and transformed into high-quality beer, continuing the agricultural traditions that are central to the estate.
The big question remains—is this a fool’s spring? While signs of spring are all around us, only time will tell if the weather has truly turned for good.
Visit us at Raynham Estate this spring to witness these seasonal wonders and experience the beauty of Norfolk as nature awakens.
